HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
As we see it, comprehensive college counseling for high school students involves two distinct steps: the Selection Process and the Application Process.
Selection Process:
Evaluate the high school student’s personal achievements, academic record and extracurricular interests.
Offer specific suggestions and strategies to strengthen student’s academic and extracurricular profile.
Assist with curriculum planning, determining necessary future standardized testing (SAT, ACT, AP and Subject Tests), as well as planning summer activities, arranging college visits and advising how to secure teacher recommendations.
Narrow in on college choices which would be a good fit for student.
During this process we work to get to know the student through a series of evaluations that aid us in selecting colleges where the student will be most satisfied. We pay particular attention to unique learning circumstances, such as learning differences, and address each student’s talents and special needs.
Application Process:
Select the final college list and conduct a review of final applications.
Assist with mechanics of the application.
Create activity sheet.
Brainstorm for innovative approaches to essay subject matter and structure.
Address additional elements of the application tailored to each student’s needs.

Early action/early decision options

We commence our work with an initial consultation. Thereafter, all in-person meetings and telephone consults are billed hourly. Editing/computer work is also billed hourly. We are flexible and will work with the student or his/her parent in-person, by phone, fax, and email. We accept students entering their freshman through senior year of high school (availability pending) but advise students to commence the initial consultation by their sophomore year so we may have the greatest impact.
